For children 0-2 years

In this exhibition, children aged 0-2 get the opportunity to meet their cultural and historical heritage based on their own level and experience.

The various parts of the exhibition have been inspired by cultures in Norrbotten through objects, figures and associative elements based on patterns, colors and shapes from the Norrbotten museum's collections. The exhibition is about cultural-historical meetings. Past meets present. Elements from Tornedal, Sami, Roma and Swedish culture meet each other in a playful way.

The age group is neglected in terms of cultural offerings with the arguments that they are too young, do not need or are not receptive to culture. But our youngest citizens have equal value, equal right to cultural experiences and are just as important to listen to as everyone else.

The basic principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child are cornerstones of the exhibition:

  • The child's right not to be discriminated against
  • The best interests of the child come first
  • The child's right to life and development
  • The child's right to access is discussed and respected

Children from Seskarö preschool in Haparanda and Hägerns preschool in Luleå have participated and the exhibition is designed according to the children's needs and wishes.

The exhibition has been produced by Norrbotten's museum in collaboration with Norrbotten's Hembygdsförbund, with support from the Postal Code Lottery's Cultural Foundation.
