Ebrahim Umerkajeff was the first Muslim to establish himself in Sweden. He came from Russia in 1897 and later ran a fur trade in Stockholm. During a business trip to Luleå in the early 1900s, he was arrested and falsely accused of kidnapping girls for a harem, which became national news.

Religious scholar Simon Sorgenfrei has written the book "They Will Be Different Swedes" about the first Muslims in Sweden. During the lecture, he talks about Umerkajeff's life and stay in Luleå.
