During the spring and autumn of 2025, four artists have delved into the Norrbotten Museum's Sami collections in collaboration with the nomadic art institution Verdde. The artist duo Johdet Pirak (Kristoffer Unga Pirak and Lina Johdet) now invites you to a conversation about seita in the collections.

Two of the seitas in the museum's collections come from the artist duo's home regions, Jåhkåmåhkke (Jokkmokk) and Čunusavvon (Junosuando). In the conversation, they reflect on questions of place, tradition and change. What happens when sacred objects are moved from the landscapes they belong to? Can the ties to the lands and the meaning in nature be reestablished – and what role can art play in this?

Nils Harnesk from Norrbotten Museum also participates in the conversation, based on the challenges that objects like these can pose for museum operations.

About Johdet Pirak and Verdde

Johdet Pirak is an artist duo with roots in the inland of Norrbotten. Their work is based on cultural heritage and life in rural areas, where the storytelling tradition has a natural place. Through art, they allow the tradition to both live on and take on new expressions.

Verdde is a nomadic art institution that makes the Sami presence visible and contributes to a history writing where Sami perspectives find a place. Through artistic expression, Verdde wants to deepen the understanding of Sami history, contemporary times and artistry.
