Storytelling evening

The bell tower next to Öjebyn church has fascinated locals and visitors for around 600 years. No one knows exactly when it was built, but based on its style and form, it is considered to be Norrbotten's oldest centrally planned stone building.

The bell tower is older than the church and there has long been debate about its original purpose – a recreation room, a morgue or a defensive tower? When the church was expanded from a long church to a cross-shaped church in the 1700th century, the tower was almost demolished.

Kristin Lång, building antiquarian at Norrbotten Museum, talks about this and much more.
