It is possible to book the Norrbotten Museum's traveling exhibitions free of charge within Norrbotten. Below we present our range.
In the exhibition "Patchwork in doll format" a small selection from Doris Öberg's large collection of patchwork in doll format is shown. The exhibition contains different sewing techniques, fabrics and imagery. It is also a journey through time from older beds to newer shapes and materials.
Täcklebo Broderiakademi/Norrtrådar has embroidered red-listed animal and plant species. Their purpose is to show embroidery's possibilities as an artistic means of expression and to promote interest in free embroidery.
When they challenged their members to embroider red-listed species, the local group Norrtrådar in Luleå accepted the challenge. Through Norrbotten's museum, the embroideries became an exhibition where you can learn more about some of our red-listed species at the same time.
The exhibition "Drowned cultural environments" shows the water reservoir at Seitevare hydropower plant and its impact on the cultural environment in the area.
Seitevare power plant is located on the border of the Sarek National Park. The water reservoir forms a huge wall straight across the deep valley where the Blackälven and Holy Falls once gushed through. In this landscape, people have operated for thousands of years, with different lifestyles and resource utilization. When the power plant was built, the landscape changed significantly. The people who have lived and live in the area have had to adapt to the new conditions.
Until now, we have not known much about when iron production started in northern Sweden. Researchers have long
considered that iron handling here only started with the mining of the 1600th century.
Through archaeological investigations carried out in Norrbotten's coastal area in recent years, unique findings have been found that change this picture. The finds show an advanced know-how in iron handling, where steel
was produced and refined already 2 years ago.
