What might temporary worker housing have looked like for rafters and lumberjacks? What was life like in these huts? These are some of the questions that will be discussed during this lecture.
Norrbotten Museum's building antiquarians Erica Duvensjö and Kristin Lång will take you on a journey through the history of rafting and forestry, starting from the raft huts and forest huts that are part of the Forestry and Rafting Museum at Storforsen.
The lecture is part of the project "Norrbottnisk byggnadsvård" at Älvsby folkhögskola, which is a three-year project with the aim of increasing knowledge about Norrbottnisk building culture and thus increasing the protection of the Norrbottnisk distinctive character of buildings during renovation efforts.
The lecture is free of charge, and no registration is required.
