Storytelling evening

NOTE - The lecture is cancelled!

The rivers of Norrland have been of great importance for Sweden's electrification and industrial development. Sikfors power station was built in 1911-12 to supply electricity to the Luleå wood grinding mill in Karlshäll as well as the city of Luleå, the ironworks and the ore port.

Sikfors power station is approximately contemporary with Porjus power station. Sikfors and Porjus are also the county's oldest major hydroelectric power plants. The old Sikfors power station has been a listed building since 2010.

Erica Duvensjö, building antiquarian at Norrbotten Museum, talks about the creation of Sikfors power station and what made it so special.
