Welcome to an interesting lecture based on the book "Älvbygder i norr". The book describes the development in the river valleys around Kalix, Töre and Sangis up to the mid-1900th century.

During the lecture, author Kjell Danell presents the lives of people and the changing landscape in the river valleys around Kalix, Töre and Sangis. 8000 years are divided into eight eras – eight "future lands" – each with their successes and challenges, with a special focus on the forces that have shaped society, culture and business.

What made the area seen as a future country and attracted people and capital for so long? And what does it mean that we are today in the eighth future country, Norrbotten? What awaits us next?

The authors of "Älvbygder i norr" are Kjell Danell, who grew up in Kalix and currently lives in Umeå, and Bengt-Göran Nilsson, who was born in Innanbäcken, Kalix, where he also lives.
